Sound Production
Critical to the performance is a surround
sound “concert hall” effect. It is imperative
that speakers be placed evenly around the room so
as an even sound can come from wherever the performer moves. A reverb effect
is also needed to help create this ambience. We supply a Senheisser (EW172G2
GI wireless) and a sound engineer is needed to operate this with a PA system
suitable to the venue size and suitable to amplify an acoustic violin.
A Minimum 8 speaker PA system, plus 3 fold-back wedges
(More speakers
needed for larger events. It is essential that speakers be
placed evenly
around the room so as to obtain equal sound
coverage throughout.)
Suitable Staging /stage wash for venue and amount of
guests.

worker by day, Elvis by night for Damian
Leader (2008) 'Damian
treats him nice’
ELVIS Presley once said ‘‘ambition is a dream with a V8 engine’’, Damian
knows exactly what he was talking about. By day, Damian, works in
retail, but by night he transforms into the ‘‘King’’ – complete with
authentic, $1500 suits, bling rings and Elvis aviators.' As a kid I always
thought he was pretty amazing. I think every boy wanted to be Elvis,’’
Damian said. Not that he would ever claim to be the ‘King’, of course.
‘‘There are certain rules when you impersonate Elvis. At the shows, you
never say you are Elvis, because they say that’s demeaning to Elvis
followers.’’ Mullin has been performing as Elvis for the past two years,
in venues all over Melbourne and in Singing
Telegrams.
‘‘I remember Elvis in the jumpsuits, so it’s all about the jumpsuits for
me,’’ Damian said.
‘‘And I think there’s probably more a resemblance to me in the 70s, when
he was a bit heavier. ’’When’s he’s on stage, Damian says he has a
laugh, gets the audience involved and will play until he is asked to stop. He
has even been known to throw a few silk scarves into a crowd of adoring
fans. ‘‘I like to think I have good humour and good charisma with
(Elvis) up on stage,’’ ‘‘Once you start to talk and walk like him,
sometimes it’s hard to know when to stop.’’ Damian hasn’t yet made it
to Graceland, but he has studied 300 imported DVDs of live concerts to get the
hip swivel, walk and voice just right. And with clients like cricket legend
Merv Hughes and television personality Suzie Wilks, Damian has worn in the
‘King’s’ blue suede shoes.
